Hey, I’m  Jade — the baker, decorator, and all round cake lover behind  JD Bakes

When I’m not in the bakery or attending events, you’ll usually find me with my two adorable boys and my husband — they’re a huge part of this journey (and often the ones bringing me something I’ve inevitably forgotten… gotta love that ADHD brain!).

My journey into the world of baking began back in 2017, fuelled by a love of baking for family gatherings. Originally known as Jade’s Delights, I soon realised the business needed a refresh — which led to the launch of JD Bespoke Bakes in 2022, complete with a shiny new logo and direction then in 2025 I rebranded to JD Bakes  once I’d set up in my new premises. After months of playing with the name, logo, and putting it off, I finally went for it — as many people already called me this, and when I was younger my mum always called me Jadey, which is where the “JD” comes from.
It’s taken a bit of doing, but I think I’ve finally found the name and brand that truly feels like me.

Since then, things have grown little by little each year. I’ve spent countless weekends attending local events, bringing sweet treats to people far and wide — often with the help of our trusty DIY project trailer that lets us stand tall (and serve cake!) whatever the weather.

In February 2025, I took on my biggest project yet — transforming a small commercial unit into my very own bakery. The business had well and truly taken over our little house, so this space was a dream come true! Outside, you’ll now find The Cake Shed, open daily and packed with goodies for anyone in need of a sugar fix.

Every bake is made by hand in my Clay Cross bakery, using quality ingredients, plenty of love, and maybe a sprinkle of chaos from your resident ADHD girly!

I’m all about bringing a little joy through homemade bakes — whether that’s a treat from The Cake Shed, a postal treat box arriving at your door, a cake for a special event, or one of my festive creations that’s perfect for gifting and sharing.

And hey, did you know we also make branded cookies and brownies for businesses? They’re the perfect addition to corporate events, launches, or marketing gifts — a sweet way to make a lasting impression.
